City of Washington Wins Top Honors at America in Bloom National Symposium
WASHINGTON, MO – The City of Washington is proud to announce it has received three prestigious awards at the 2025 America in Bloom National Symposium, held last week in Rochester, Michigan. These national recognitions celebrate the City’s ongoing commitment to beautification, community engagement, and quality of life.
Washington was honored with the following awards:
🏆 Coolest Downtown Award
🌸 Alive with Flowers Award (including a $700 prize in plant materials)
🌟 Overall Winner in Our Population Category
“These awards are a reflection of the incredible spirit of our community,” said Mayor Doug Hagedorn. “From our dedicated volunteers to our local businesses and community partners, it takes all of us working together to make Washington a place we’re proud to call home.”
The Alive with Flowers award also includes a $700 in-kind prize of plant materials, which will be used to enhance downtown flowerpots and landscaping throughout the city.
The America in Bloom program recognizes communities nationwide for their efforts in fostering environmental sustainability, beautification, and civic pride. The recognition Washington received is a testament to the City's collaborative efforts and deep-rooted community pride.
