Residents have an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of unwanted paint during an upcoming Paint Recycling Event on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Swine Pavilion at the Fairgrounds, 11 Fairgrounds Street in Washington.
The recycling event will accept latex paint, water-based stains, and primers. All containers must be sealed and clearly labeled. A fee of $1 per pound will be charged for materials brought for recycling.
The following items will not be accepted: oil-based paint, spray cans, industrial paint, unknown liquids, open or leaking containers, Drylok products, solvents, or empty cans.
This event provides a convenient way for residents to dispose of unwanted paint while helping protect the environment. Recycling paint keeps harmful materials out of landfills and supports responsible waste management practices in the community.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out garages, basements, and storage areas and recycle old paint safely.
