City of Washington Announces the 50th Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo

Washington, MO — The City of Washington, in partnership with the Bank of Franklin County and the Washington Police Department, is proud to announce the 50th Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo, a beloved community tradition promoting safe riding habits for children and families.

This year marks a major milestone—five decades of educating young riders on bike handling, road awareness, and safety practices. The event will be held on May 16, 2025, with registration open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

“We’re excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this program, which has helped generations of local kids become more confident and safer cyclists,” said organizers from the City and Washington Police Department.

Families are encouraged to bring their bicycles and helmets and take part in hands‑on safety stations, skill courses, and educational demonstrations led by local officers and volunteers.
