The City of Washington, in partnership with Paint Busters, invites residents to participate in an upcoming Community Paint Recycling Event designed to provide a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted paint products.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Fairgrounds at 11 Fairgrounds Street, Swine Pavilion. Residents can recycle accepted paint materials for a cost of $1.00 per pound.

Accepted items include:

  • Latex paint

  • Water-based stains

  • Primers

All containers must be sealed and clearly labeled.

Items not accepted include:

  • Oil-based paint

  • Spray paint cans

  • Industrial paint

  • Unknown liquids

  • Open or leaking cans

  • Drylok products

  • Solvents

  • Empty cans

This event helps keep potentially hazardous materials out of landfills while supporting responsible waste management practices in the community. Residents are encouraged to clean out garages, basements, and storage areas and take advantage of this recycling opportunity.
