New Trash & Recycling Collection Schedule

The City of Washington will implement a new residential trash and recycling collection schedule beginning Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The updated schedule is designed to simplify trash collection and create a more consistent recycling schedule for residents.

What’s Changing?

Beginning September 1:

  • Trash will be collected every Tuesday citywide. All residential customers will have the same weekly trash collection day.

  • Recycling will be collected every other week for each residence. The city will be divided into Section A and Section B, with the sections alternating recycling collection each Tuesday.

  • One bulk item may be placed at the curb during your scheduled recycling week.

The City appreciates residents' cooperation as the new schedule is introduced and looks forward to providing a simpler, more consistent collection schedule for the Washington community.
