Night Shift Summary 7/17/2024 A report was taken in the area of E 5th Street and Zetta Drive for Violation of Protection Order. Officers checked the wellbeing of a subject in the 300 block of Elm Street. A subject was reported as a missing person in the 900 block of E 5th Street, but was located shortly thereafter.

Day Shift Summary 07/17/2024 Parking violation in the 300 block of West Main Street. Vehicle was moved. Non-injury traffic crash on East 5th Street at Highway 47. Assisted a motorist on Highway 47 at Blue Jay Drive. Assisted WFD with a fire at the rear of a residence in the 300 block of West 6th Street. A fraudulent bill was turned in from Washington Corners. Non-injury traffic crash on Highway 100 at Rabbit Trail Drive. Alarm in the 5000 block of Highway 100. Accidental.

Officers checked the wellbeing of a subject in the 1100 block of Horn Street, who was later transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Day Shift Summary 07/14/2024 Removed hazards from the roadway on Highway 100 at A. Roy Drive. Intoxicated subject was reported in the area of East 5th Street and Highway 47. Subject was taken into protective custody. 2 dogs were reported in a vehicle with the windows up on Vernaci Drive. The windows were up, but the vehicle was running with the A/C on.

Yesterday we had the solemn honor of assisting with the funeral of former Union FPD and Boone County Assistant Chief Matthew Tobben. He was a training partner, mentor, friend and cousin to members of our department. He was a good man who died while saving others in a swiftwater flooding event, and he will be missed. This scripture was read at his funeral service: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ " -Isiah 6:8-13 Asst.
