******REMINDER*****

The City of Washington will conduct a rescheduled tornado drill on March 18th, 2026, at approximately 11:00AM as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and preparedness of the community. While the NWS will not be rescheduling the drill that was previously cancelled the City of Washington Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with the City of Washington 9-1-1 Communications feels it is important to still perform a yearly citywide tornado drill. At the above time the city tornado sirens will sound along with a CodeRed message sent out for everyone that is registered.

Happy St. Patrick's day Washmo! If you celebrate today with some adult beverages, make good choices. Stay warm and stay safe.

May you have the hindsight to remember where you've been, the foresight to know where you're going, and the pure Irish insight to realize that an Uber is a whole lot cheaper than a lawyer.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may your rearview mirror stay blissfully free of flashing red and blue lights!

...And to anyone who ignores that and drives impaired anyway: May your luck run out, your arrest be swift, and your stay in the Municipal Jail be an eye opener into making better choices!

Night Shift Summary
Spring rains are already upon us. Now is a good time to make sure your home is ready. Keeping rainwater away from your foundation is important to protect your house from damage. Cleanout gutters and downspouts and direct water away from your foundation and your neighbors. Direct water to swales, natural drainage ways, drains, or rain gardens. Having water directed to vegetated areas of grass or native plants helps slow the flow of water and reduce erosion that can damage your yard and wash pollutants into our streams and rivers.

Yesterday, Parochial School SRO Wyatt Loague #268 stopped by St. Francis Borgia Grade School to spend some time with the kiddos in the Early Childhood Department. Today, our SRO Unit Supervisor, Sgt. Mike Grissom #299, took advantage of the nice weather to get some exercise in during recess and play with students.

Our School Resource Officers take a lot of pride in building positive relationships with students and school staff. We’re also proud of the strong partnerships we have with both the parochial schools and the School District of Washington. Those relationships help create opportunities like these — where officers can connect with students in a positive and meaningful way.

These everyday interactions are an important part of what makes the SRO program successful.
