On Wednesday, October 9, there will be an early trash collection due to the Third Street Paving Project. This is for residents who live between Jefferson Street and Highway 47 and north of 5th Street. Please have cans and bags out the night before or by 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Thank you.

Several members of the Washington Volunteer Fire Company had the honor of attending ceremonies this weekend at the Firefighter Memorial in Kingdom City. This year included three Line of Duty deaths in Missouri in 2023: Firefighter Tad Russell, Brumley FPD, Firefighter Lloyd Ruediger, New Haven-Berger Fire; and Captain Raymond Wynn, Kansas City Fire. The WVFC added four names from 2023 to our Memorial Wall: Rick Frankenberg, Terry Sullentrup, Charles "Mike" Carman, and Don Willming. (Maurice Hillerman will be honored at next year's ceremony). Day Shift Summary 10/06/2024 Alarm in the 300 block of West 5th Street. Accidental. Subjects arguing in the 500 block of West 5th Street. Subjects decided to separate until they calmed down. Minor-injury traffic crash on Stafford Street at West 3rd Street involving a bicyclist. Loud music complaint in the 700 block of Fremont Street. Noise was coming from the radio in a vehicle parked in the area. Subject was asked to turn it down.

Assisted a stalled motorist on Rabbit Trail Drive at Highway 100. Violation of a court order reported in the 1300 block of East 5th Street. Subject who violated the order was located and arrested. Dog was running at large in the area of 700 West Main Street. Owner was located. Non-injury traffic crash in the 100 block of West Main Street. Leaving the scene crash reported in the 300 block of West Main Street. Alarm in the 600 block of International Avenue. Accidental.

The Third Street contractor will be performing base repair, paving and sod installation on East Third Street between Jefferson Street and Highway 47 on Monday, October 7 thru Thursday, October 10 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please note this schedule is weather dependent. No parking is allowed on this portion of Third Street during this time frame and flaggers will be on site for detours near Highway 47 during paving operations in that area. Subject was contacted in the 900 block of East 5th Street who was known to have warrants. Subject was arrested on the outstanding warrants. Peace disturbance in Washington Crossing. Subject causing the disturbance was asked to leave. Subject was stopped for a traffic violation in the area of East 5th Street and International Avenue. Subject was found to be driving on a suspended driving privilege. Subject was arrested. Assisted EMS with a subject yelling for help in the 200 block of Elm Street. Subject was left in care of EMS.
