Yesterday we had the solemn honor of assisting with the funeral of former Union FPD and Boone County Assistant Chief Matthew Tobben. He was a training partner, mentor, friend and cousin to members of our department. He was a good man who died while saving others in a swiftwater flooding event, and he will be missed. This scripture was read at his funeral service: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ " -Isiah 6:8-13 Asst. Chief Tobben was a man that lived the meaning of "send me". Rest in peace, Brother. The Friends of the Library gifted us this beautiful Cover One Machine that helps us fix broken bindings. Heavy, more expensive books often break early, like this well-used Minecraft Book. We've saved over 50 books since we got this machine in June. Thank you to the Friends!

When washing your car in the street or your driveway, an average of 120 gallons of soap and grease filled water goes down the storm drain and into our creeks and rivers. Using a bucket and dumping the dirty water in the sink will not only save on water usage but will help keep our water clean. #SWPPP #washmo #waterwisewednesday #onlyraindownthedrain
