Night Shift Summary 05/05/2024 Non-injury private property crash on Washington Crossing. Peace disturbance on Brookview Drive. Subject causing the disturbance left. Checked on a subject believed to be sleeping at the wheel in Washington Crossing. Subject was just watching their phone. Subject was located sleeping at the riverfront park. They were told to move along.

Night Shift Summary 05/04/2024 Parking violation in the 200 block of Elm Street. Subject moved their vehicle. Traffic crash on Wenona Court. Subject left the scene on foot. Subject was later located and arrested for leaving the scene and driving while revoked. Assisted EMS in the 700 block of East 3rd Street. Subject was left in care of EMS. Peace disturbance reported on Johnson Street. Music was turned down. Assault reported in the 600 block of West 5th Street. Stolen vehicle reported at the riverfront. Subject just forgot where they parked. Non-injury vehicle crash at 8th Street and Elm Street. SUV overturned into Busch Creek. Subject was found to be uninjured but intoxicated and was arrested.

Tomorrow is the solemn day that fallen firefighters are honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Maryland. Two Missouri firefighters are included this year, Lloyd Ruediger from New Haven-Berger and Captain Raymond Wynn from Kansas City. Our own Lt. Scott Wehlage is representing WFD at the ceremony and will have the honor of escorting the family of Chief Steven Smith from Alabama. The ceremony will take place tomorrow morning (May 5) at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time. Shift Summary - Days 5/4/24 Assisted FCSD with motor vehicle crash investigation in the area of Hwy 100 and Hwy A. An ordinance violation was reported in the area of South Lake Shore Dr. A motor vehicle crash was reported in the area of Bluff Rd. and Westlink Dr. An accidental injury occurred in the area of Lakeview Football Fields. A private property motor vehicle crash occurred in the 1900 block of Rabbit Trail Dr. Property damage was reported in the 5700 block of Steutermann Rd. A motor vehicle crash occurred in the area of Hwy A and Hwy 100.

Night Shift Summary 05/03/2024 Non-injury private property crash on East 5th Street. Assault reported in the 900 block of East 5th Street. Careless and reckless driver was stopped in the area of Highway A and Expedition Drive. Subject was issued a summons. Subjects were stopped that were moving traffic cones in the area of East 5th Street and Highway 100. One of the subjects was found to have outstanding warrants and was arrested. Assisted a motorist in the 300 block of Westlink Drive.

WFD Headquarters Station is lit up in RED for the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Weekend.

Help us collect plastic bottle caps for a community art mosaic project. This will be part of the Missouri Book Festival (which happens the second weekend of September). Bring clean plastic caps to the Washington Library entryway. Put the caps in the bins sorted by color. Thanks!

This weekend is the Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. If your church (or any other place with a large bell) would like to participate in the Bells Across America Tribute, please join in! Bells can be rung in tribute to fallen firefighters any time this weekend.

Shift Summary Days 05/02/24 Vehicle crash report in the area of Highway 100 and Vossbrink Drive Vehicle crash report in the 1800 Block of Highway A. A larceny report in the 5800 Block of Highway 100. A vehicle crash report in the 800 Block of W. Main. A stolen vehicle report was taken in the 300 Block of Fair Street. A vehicle crash report in the area of Highway 47 and 1st Street. Found Property in the area of Highway 100/Clay. An informational report was taken in the 4200 Block of Highway 47. Report of kids near the water at the riverfront. They were being kids and skipping rocks.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 15 at the flag pole between our headquarters building and city hall as we honor officers who have sacrificed their lives in the performance of their duties. The ceremony will start at 9 a.m. and should last roughly 45 minutes to an hour.

Thanks for coming out to the Missouri Weird and Wonderful on Tuesday night. We challenged the artist (Dan Zettwoch) to draw a Scottish man with a corn cob pipe, herding a sheep that was blowing bagpipes. And he did it!

For the month of May, join the City of Washington in supporting Franklin County United Way by donating Peanut Butter and Jelly to distribute to children in need for summer meals. Donations can be dropped off to the 3rd Floor of City Hall. Donations are also accepted at the Library.

Shift Summary Days 05/01/24 A report was pulled in reference to fraud in the area of Vernaci Drive. A peace disturbance was reported in the area of 100 and 47. Property damage was reported in the area of Blue Jay Drive. Found property was reported in the area of West Pride Drive. A report was pulled in reference to a derelict/towed vehicle in the 1200 block of E 6th. Numerous other suspicious person checks and calls for service.

*HIGHWAY 100 WORK ZONE TO CONTINUE THRU WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Highway 100 from Washington Crossing to South Point Road will have one eastbound and westbound lane closed.

*WORK ZONE - THURSDAY, MAY 2* From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Highway 100 at St. John's Creek Bridge, will be one lane. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.
