This week’s theme for #ParksandRecMonth is to “Fit In” and highlight our health and wellness programs. While the Parks Department does not operate and run the little league programs, we do maintain the fields they play on. These programs are essential for youth and adolescence development through sports and our department takes pride in keeping the fields in pristine condition. #WhereYouBelong #ParksandRecMonth24

Yesterday we had the solemn honor of assisting with the funeral of former Union FPD and Boone County Assistant Chief Matthew Tobben. He was a training partner, mentor, friend and cousin to members of our department. He was a good man who died while saving others in a swiftwater flooding event, and he will be missed. This scripture was read at his funeral service: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ " -Isiah 6:8-13 Asst. Chief Tobben was a man that lived the meaning of "send me". Rest in peace, Brother. One of the newer parks in our department, founded in 2017, the South Point Bark Park is a great spot to take your furry friend, with lots of room to roam and features to play with. This park has something for every type of dog, large or small, and is another reason why Washington’s Parks and Recreation is #WhereYouBelong. #ParksandRecMonth24 #ParksandRecMonth
