Yard waste, such as grass clippings and leaves, do not belong in a storm drain. Not only do they clog the storm system and cause unnecessary flooding, but organic debris also pollutes our waterways and can cause eutrophication – a reduction in oxygen levels in our rivers and lakes which harms and kills aquatic wildlife. Be mindful as our mowing season begins.
